Deadline for Start of 9-Week Contest
Once STAR VS STAR has drafted the teams for your league, you have until 12 Midnight ET on Sunday to make changes to any or all of the celebrities on your team roster. At the deadline, your roster will be set for the first day of the 9-week Contest. Any roster changes made after the deadline will not take effect until the following day.
Daily Deadlines and Stat Week
You may change any or all of the celebrities on your team roster every day by 12 Midnight ET in order to be effective the following day. At the daily deadline, your roster will be set for the following day. Any roster changes made after the day’s deadline will not take effect until the following day. Thus, although your celebrity points are accumulated on a weekly Monday-through-Sunday basis to determine matchup winners, your team may have up to 7 different 10-celebrity rosters for the stat week to accumulate these points.
Roster Change
A roster change occurs when you add a new celebrity to your team, and drop a celebrity from your team. You may add any celebrity who is not on any team in your league and is on the STAR VS STAR celebrity list. The celebrity that you add may or may not be from the same group (A, B, C, or D) as the celebrity that you are dropping. Celebrities are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no limit to the number of roster changes that you may do in a day or in a week.
Your 10-celebrity roster will carry over from day to day if you do not make any changes.
All roster changes are unlimited and free. There are no celebrity trades between teams.
SCORING
Overview
To determine standings, STAR VS STAR uses head-to-head weekly matchups and point-style scoring. Based on the points accumulated by the celebrities on your team versus the points accumulated by the celebrities on your opponent’s team, your team wins or loses its weekly matchup. Your team’s win-loss record then determines your place in the standings as well as whether or not you advance to the playoffs and ultimately win your league!
Point Scoring System
Each stat week (Monday through Sunday), points are accumulated by the 10 celebrities on your team roster for each day of the week using the following formula for each applicable celebrity mention:Celebrity Mention Points = Celebrity Multiplier x Quality Multiplier for Celebrity Mention where the Celebrity Multiplier is:
and the Quality Multiplier for the Celebrity Mention is:
Celebrity mentions are scored once per source and once per published news item, headline, photo, and video. For example, if the same photo is run by two (2) sources, it will be counted as two (2) photo mentions. If one news article contains a given celebrity’s name five (5) times, it only will be counted as one (1) text mention. Points are calculated for each celebrity on your daily roster based on the celebrity’s multiplier and the number of celebrity mentions and the corresponding quality multiplier for each mention. The 10 celebrity point totals for each of the 7 days of the week are then added together to determine your team’s point total for the week. The week begins with celebrity mentions on Monday at 12:01 AM ET and ends with celebrity mentions on Sunday at 12 Midnight ET. All points accumulated by the celebrities on your team roster contribute to your team’s point total for the day that they are on your roster. Points by your celebrities before being added to your roster as well as points by your celebrities after being dropped from your roster do not contribute to your team’s point total. Celebrity Group Adjustments
Every Monday morning, the lists of A, B, C, and D celebrities are adjusted based on the raw scores of the celebrities from the previous week so that the celebrities are grouped as follows:
The raw score is determined as the sum of all points scored from the four different types of mentions before the Celebrity Multiplier is applied. Scoring Cap
Every Monday morning, a scoring cap for the A list celebrities is set for the upcoming week. No A list celebrity will be able to accumulate more than this number of points during the week; once an A list celebrity on your team reaches the scoring cap, no more points will be awarded. The scoring cap is determined by averaging the total number of points accumulated by the 5th and 6th ranked A list celebrities from the previous week. Head-to-Head Weekly Matchups
During Weeks 1 through 7 of the 9-week Contest, your team will play against the other teams in your league. Based on the points accumulated by your team versus the points accumulated by your opponent’s team, your team wins or loses its weekly matchup. Your team’s accumulated win-loss record then determines your place in the league standings. Based on league standings after Week 7, the top 4 teams in your league make the playoffs. Playoff matchups are Week 8, and the Championship Game for your league is Week 9. The weekly matchup schedules for 8-team, 6-team, and 4-team leagues for Weeks 1 through 7 are:
The matchup schedule for Week 8 is:
The matchup schedule for Week 9 is:
Tie-Breakers for Weekly Matchups, Playoff Matchups, and the Championship Game
Based on the points accumulated by your team versus the points accumulated by your opponent’s team, your team wins or loses its weekly matchup. If your team and your weekly opponent’s team each score the same number of points for the week, the following tie-breaker criteria are used: 1. The team with the greatest one-day point total for the week is awarded the win. Tie-Breakers for Playoff Seedings
Based on league standings after Week 7, the top 4 teams in the league make the playoffs, and are seeded 1 through 4 to determine matchups for the remainder of the Contest:
In the event that two or more teams are tied in the league standings, the following tie-breaker criteria are used: 1. The team with the most year-to-date points (Week 1 through Week 7) is awarded the higher seed, where the 1 seed is higher than the 2 seed. Official Scoring
The Celebrity Multipliers are determined by STAR VS STAR and may change during the 9-week Contest. Official celebrity mentions are those mentions tracked and counted by STAR VS STAR based on news published by various entertainment websites such as TMZ, People, and E-online. If the same celebrity mention appears on more than one entertainment website, it will be counted each time that it appears. Celebrity mentions are scored once per published news item, headline, photo, and video regardless of how many times the celebrity’s name or image is included in the item. Only those celebrity mentions tracked and counted by STAR VS STAR will be used.
